What is sin and why is it so important?
There are a lot of things people classify as sin but in actuality it isn't..Sin are those things we do that do not please God. Do not forget that until you are born again, you are in sin because any one born of a woman was born into sin (except of course you weren't born of a woman😀). Teenage Christians are always struggling not to sin but they end up giving up the struggle because they can't keep it up. You can't wrestle sin by your power neither can you be pure of your own accord. Try as you may, your efforts might even result in frustration. There are so many weapons that God has given us to combat sin. I'll briefly discuss two in this blog post.
1. THE RAW, UNDILUTED WORD OF GOD
Rom 12:1-2(NKJV)
"I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service. And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
The first verse emphasizes the importance of purity. Present your bodies as a living sacrifice, holy.... Here the Bible is telling us that we should present ourselves holy to God. Thank God, his word is so beautiful, so amazing, so confounding to some people because it is of a supernatural wisdom that man doesn't have. Verse 2 tells us how to keep our bodies holy. ".....Be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God."
We begin to conform to the world when our minds are not renewed.
If you don't have a shower regularly, you would begin to stink, people will begin to avoid you. This also applies when it comes to purity. A lot of teenage Christians succumb to immorality, lies, stealing and so many other sins. It seems immorality is the biggest problem of most teenagers. They get lost in physical beauty and what the media portrays to be beauty. The entire media is perverted by immorality. There is literally no movie where there aren't kissing scenes..
Anything that sparks a flame of sin should be avoided.
Our minds can only be renewed by the word of God. The word enables us discern the will of God. It helps us become more spirit minded.
Never underestimate the importance of the word!
Never go a day without reading the word!
The word is undiluted thus it dilutes the things of the world until it becomes nonexistent.
2. WALK IN THE SPIRIT
Rom 8:1(NKJV)
" There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus, who do not walk according to the flesh, but according to the spirit."
This might sound complex but it isn't.
It is quite simple. Walk in the spirit. Walking in the spirit involves continuous awareness of God's presence and it also involves praying in tongues.
When you pray in tongues, you build spiritual immunity from sin and sickness
Prayer in tongues unleashes a capacity to overcome sin.
This is one of the most effective tools that mature Christians know. They are constantly praying (praying without ceasing).
It is very important to make conscious effort against sin, supplementing them with these tools, and you will see results.
There are other that tools that would be discussed in part 2 & 3. These include building up the human spirit and taming the tongue.
God bless you.......Shalom🔥
To combat sin there are some inevitable factors;
ReplyDelete1.) Regular study if the word.
Joshua 1:8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success
It is the word of God you use in combating temptation as shown by Jesus when Satan came to tempt him.
2.) Prayer
Prayer is the earthly licence for Heavenly intervention. Heaven never helps you unless called upon in prayer by you or someone else. There is an enabling grace for overcoming temptations which is like an energy you build when you pray regularly.
3.) Fasting
Fasting is an 'injection' given to the flesh to keep it silent and allow the spirit to function. A believer should always fast atleast once a week to keep the flesh oppressed. God bless you
